Bailey's Fine Furniture is a bespoke furniture company founded and run by craftsman David Bailey, a graduate of the Chippendale International School of Furniture.
Having worked for well regarded cabinet makers producing bespoke furniture in Edinburgh after my training, I started Bailey's with the aim of creating a more personal service and bringing my own design experience to the furniture I produce. It's a long way away from the factory operations of most furniture makers and it shows in the end product.
I use only the best techniques and materials to produce furniture that will stand the test of time.
All of my bespoke furniture is designed and handmade from scratch in my workshop in Edinburgh. Because I am focused on a personal service, you can pop in at any time to meet the maker and discuss your ideas, just call ahead to let us know!
I have invested in the best modern machinery available, but you'll still find plenty of workbenches and hand tools because much of my work is still done by hand.
The Best Materials
I personally select the best quality woods from the abundance of local hardwoods in Britain, like oak, ash and sycamore. I do also work in more exotic timbers and I can usually get a hold of most timbers, just ask. I make considered and intelligent choices when designing my furniture and I am happy to talk it through with you!
I use Baltic Birch Ply for the carcasses of my kitchen cabinets and for painted dressers because of its stability and durability, and I use solid tulipwood for our painted doors and face frames. I usually use Farrow and Ball or Little Greene for painted kitchens but I am happy to source any paint you might want, and my kitchens are hand painted.
I use high quality soft close hinges and drawer runners from Blum as standard, an Austrian company well regarded for their quality. I have a range of high quality handle and knob suppliers to choose from as well.
